GTS Drivers: Full-Time, Part-Time, and Substitute Commercial Drivers
 
Garrett Transit Service, a department of Garrett County Community Action Committee, Inc. (GCCAC) is accepting applications for FULL-TIME, PART-TIME, AND SUBSTITUTE DRIVERS. Applicants with a commercial driver’s license (CDL), class C or higher with passenger and school bus endorsements, are preferred but not required. Successful applicants must have at least five years general driving experience, have an excellent driving record, and be able to pass a DOT physical examination. The applicant must also be willing to complete basic First Aid and CPR training.
 
This is a safety-sensitive position, therefore successful applicants will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test and be subject to random drug testing while employed. Also, a copy of a current driving record will be required. The successful applicants must also pass a criminal background check.
 
Successful applicants with a valid CDL license will be hired at starting rate of $14.73 to $19.82 per hour.
 
Full-time employees receive full benefits such as 12 annual leave days, 18 sick leave days, 7 paid holidays, and 8 floating holidays. Part-time employees receive these benefits on a pro-rated basis. Full-time employees also have the option for health, vision, and dental insurance along with a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) plan. State Pension is also available for eligible employees.
 
All new employees are required to comply with the vaccination requirements outlined in GCCAC’s Mandatory Vaccination policy as soon as practicable and as a condition of employment. The policy also allows exemptions centered on medical conditions for which vaccines are contraindicated or religious beliefs. Potential candidates for employment will be notified of the requirements of this policy prior to the start of employment.

Content Support - Grantsville Senior Center kitchen
 
Garrett County Community Action Committee, Inc. / Aging and Nutrition services is seeking a Content Support person for The Grantsville Senior Center kitchen. Duties of this position include food prep, packaging of Home-Delivered meals (MOW), serving Dine- in Meal participants, and clean up. The ideal candidate must enjoy working with the elderly, and have received the COVID-19 vaccination or meet exemption criteria. Experience in food service a plus.

Head Start Collaborative Preschool Teacher
 
Garrett County Community Action Committee, Inc. is accepting applications for the following position within the Division of Child and Family Development:
 
Head Start Collaborative Preschool Teacher – Content Specialist I or II (based on qualifications)
 
The successful applicant will be responsible for cooperatively planning and implementing early childhood educational activities for prekindergarten age children participating in the Head Start/Prekindergarten Collaborative classroom in Grantsville, MD. Duties include, but aren’t limited to, the implementation of curriculum, supervision of children, developmental assessments, monitoring child progress and maintaining communication with parents, co-workers and collaborative partners.
 
This is a permanent, full-time, 10 month position offering a Monday-Friday, 8:00 am – 3:30 pm schedule with an additional 30 minutes paid from 3:30 – 4:00 pm. This position offers full Community Action benefits including health insurance, a MD State Pension plan, a flex spending account (FSA), 15 paid holidays, 10 vacation days, and 18 sick days per year.
 
Preferred Qualification Requirements: A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education. The applicant should have at least one year teaching experience with elementary age children.
 
Minimum Qualification Requirements: An Associate of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with relevant coursework in Child Development or a Child Development Associate. The applicant should have at least one year experience working with preschool age children.

Vice President of Family Economic Security

Responsible leadership position with Garrett County Community Action Committee, (GCCAC) Vice President of Family Economic Security. Provides direction and evaluation of GCCAC’s program operating departments including Services Coordination, Aging and Nutrition, Transportation and Early Child and Family Development. Is responsible for integrating and delivering department services to support organization mission. Work involves interaction with community, state and national officials and groups and supervision of department directors.

Position requires knowledge of practices and principles of management, human services, and resource development. Require excellent communication skills. Requires a master’s degree or a bachelor’s degree with five years related experience.

This is a full time permanent position with full Community Action benefits including health insurance, a pension plan, a flex spending account (FSA), 15 paid holidays, 12 vacation days, and 18 sick days per year. Vacation days increase at 5 years and 10 years employment.

In Home Care - Content Specialist 3
 
Garrett County Community Action Committee, Inc., Aging and Nutrition Services is seeking a permanent part time/full-time Content Specialist 3 to provide In-home Personal Care and Chore assistance for the Senior Care Program. Duties include light chore services and/or personal care assistance for elderly individuals. The ideal candidate must enjoy working with the elderly, have a valid driver’s license as well as dependable transportation, pass a background check and have received the COVID-19 vaccination or meet exemption criteria.
 
This is a permanent position, approximately 30-40 hours per week at $12.50 per hour. Working hours fall Monday-Friday between the hours of 8 A.M. and 4 P.M. but can also be adjusted if needed. The position also comes with full Community Action benefits including health insurance, life insurance, pension, paid holidays, sick time and annual leave.

Substitute Receptionist (Admin Support)

Garrett County Community Action Committee, Inc., is accepting applications for Substitute Admin Support Receptionist. This position is responsible for answering all incoming calls to the agency and connecting the caller to the correct department. Documents and scans all press information regarding the agency as well as scanning other agency documents as needed for electronic document management. Assists other departments as needed with typing. Helps visitors to the agency get to the correct area. Collect rent payments for Property Management Department.
 
Position Requirements: Excellent communication skills, ability to deal with a wide variety of people, and knowledge of programs. Education and Experience: Must be comfortable with computers, databases, Excel and Word. Starting amount is $11.75 per hour.
